WikiBright exists because most home repair advice online is written by people who have never done the job.
You can tell within two paragraphs. The steps skip the awkward part. The photos are stock images of somebody smiling at a wrench. Nobody mentions that the screw will be seized, that the old sealant takes longer to remove than the new sealant takes to apply, or that you will need a second pair of hands at exactly the wrong moment.
We do the job first, then write it up.
What we publish
- Repairs — dripping taps, sticking doors, running toilets, blown fuses, cracked grout. The everyday failures.
- Cleaning — methods tested against each other, with honest results about which viral tricks are nonsense.
- Home improvement — painting, shelving, sealing, insulating. Projects a competent beginner can finish.
- Household tricks — small, genuinely useful things that save time, money or a callout fee.
How our guides are written
Each guide follows the same structure: what you need, how long it takes, the difficulty, the steps in order, and what to do when it goes wrong. That last section matters most and is the one everybody else leaves out.
Every method is carried out by a member of our team before publication. Where we could not get a method to work, we say so rather than quietly omitting it.

When we tell you not to do it yourself
We will happily talk you through replacing a tap washer. We will not talk you through moving a consumer unit, working on a gas boiler, or removing a wall. Those articles exist elsewhere and they are dangerous.
Our rule is simple: if getting it wrong could burn the house down, flood it, drop the ceiling, or kill you, the guide explains what the job involves and then tells you who to call.
Funding
WikiBright is funded by display advertising and clearly labelled affiliate links. Buying a tool through one of those links costs you nothing extra. It also does not buy a recommendation — we have recommended plenty of cheap tools over expensive ones and will keep doing it.
